Jim Desmond Announces Candidacy for Congress in California's 49th District
Jim Desmond, U.S. Navy Veteran, retired Delta Airline Pilot, and District 5 San Diego County Supervisor, has officially announced his candidacy for Congress in California's 49th District. A resident of North County for over 35 years and the region's dedicated representative, Desmond is stepping forward to bring effective leadership and real results to Washington, D.C.
Desmond emphasized the growing challenges in the 49th District, saying, "It's becoming unbearable to live in California. The cost of living is driving working families and seniors out of this state.
Jim Desmond has built a distinguished record of service as the North County Supervisor and Mayor of San Marcos for over 12 years, where he has consistently delivered results, prioritized public safety, supported families and seniors, and fought for our military community. His leadership has been marked by a focus on practical solutions and accountability.
"I'm running for Congress because it's time for change. It's time for common sense to return to our government. We need leaders who will focus on delivering real solutions on immigration, public safety, and homelessness." Desmond added.
With my track record of leadership and proven ability to get results, I'm ready to bring your voice to Washington."
The 49th Congressional District spans San Diego and Orange Counties, including the communities of Oceanside, Vista, Encinitas, Carlsbad, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, and others.
